Propose a Project or Talk

Propose a Project
Have an idea? Submit a Proposal for a workshop or project.
Projects/Workshops can be as small and transient as a single gathering near a tree, or span multiple hours throughout the retreat to explore a theme together from many angles. If you have an idea you're already working on, organizing a Project or Workshop may be a good way to engage diverse participants and test your assumptions.
Weaving Teams
Complex problems require interdisciplinary collaboration to solve. One of the great benefits of DWeb Camp is the chance to weave together many skill sets, experiences and perspectives.
We encourage you to connect with each other by browsing proposals or posting your ideas here in GitLab. Invite others to brainstorm with you about your Project. DWeb Camp is a chance to enlist artists, communicators, designers, educators, funders, infrastructure engineers, lawyers, network operators, organizers, software coders... into a team to explore a use case, share knowledge and build trust for our collaborative digital futures.
Time
Projects can span multiple spaces across different time slots. We ask you to think about how long you want to offer your project. Is it a one-time demo or workshop? A multi-day exploration? A physical exhibit you want to showcase for the entire event?
Spaces
The other key consideration is space. You can request an indoor space with table and chairs in the Hackers Hall; an outdoor space in Redwood Cathedral; a spot in the Lightning Stage for your short talk, an hour in the Meadow for an outdoor game. Our Space Stewards will help you find the best spot in a huge and varied landscape.
Submit your Project/Workshop Proposal.

Propose a Lightning Talk
To propose a talk, please fill out this SPEAKERS FORM.
Lightning Talks are 10-minute sessions (Talk 7:00, Questions 2:00) which can be held in the Lightning Lounge, which has a 60" monitor and electricity or the Lightning Stage, which is outdoors with no screen.
You are welcome to talk about a variety of topics, such as a project you are involved in, a personal interest, an insight you've had at the Camp, or sharing the output of your DWeb Camp Project. We encourage you to share knowledge and ideas, not pitch products!
Talks will be recorded and possibly live streamed. If you'd like to claim a 15-minute session and be listed schedule, please fill out this SPEAKERS FORM.
NOTE: You can also take your chance and sign up with a Space Steward the day of the event. If time and space allow, we will accommodate you.

What Happens Next?
After submitting a form, a Space Steward will contact you to make sure we can accommodate your space and logistical requirements. After your Project or Talk is confirmed, it will be listed in the schedule. While there is no deadline for submission, we ask Projects with specific space and logistical requirements to submit ASAP so we have enough time to make arrangements.
QUESTIONS? Feel free to ask at one of our Pre-Camp Info Sessions or email us at projects@archive.org.
